Happy Friday!! WOHOOOO!!! Today’s Pretty Little Friday is a little peek (I shared on Instagram) at a recent bedroom installation for a very
dear client of ours. She’s one of my very first clients and we met years ago when I visited her old house for a design consultation. When
she & her family moved, years later, I got a call to come decorate it. (yay!!) We’ve been working together for the past four years
or so on the new house, going steadily room-by-room. (And a crazy coincidence- but we also now work with the new owners of my client’s original
home so it’s been really fun for me to see its different iterations! The living room & dining room of the house- a really special historical
home in Chevy Chase- are featured in my book and we’re also in the process of decorating it, one room at a time.)
It sounds crazy but I’m loving getting older. (Don’t get me wrong, I’d love the lines & wrinkles to stay away! 😉 But I really enjoy the history
that comes along with time spent in a business/career and the amazing relationships that come along with that. It’s so cool to see trust that’s
been built up over years with longtime clients when they barely have to tell me what they want in a space because we know each other so well and they
have complete trust in us to come up with the vision. When my client called to start on her bedroom- working with her existing bed & nightstands-
we knew it would be all about the fabrics. We used a gorgeous Michael Smith/ Jasper floral to transition the color palette into aquas, warm beiges and pink to give us the more feminine feeling we were after. When we saw the bed,
the fabric immediately came to mind because it has the exact shade of lavender-gray as the bed in one of the dahlias.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed this little peek and that you have a great weekend!! I’m headed on a whirlwind trip to Birmingham to speak on panels at
the Southern Living Conference and to check out progress at the Southern Living Idea House! (I’m designing the master suite) I’ll be back next
week with an update!
