Client’s Bedroom Before & After Sneakity Peek

There are still a few things that need to be done (more lighting is on the way) but I was too excited to wait for that to share with you.  The starting point for the room was the John Robshaw print bedding (duvet cover and sheets) and I added in more layered patterns from there.  We hung curtains in Lauren Liess Textiles “Squid Flower” in “Wine” linen and had the large bolster pillow made out of Lauren Liess Textiles “Pierced Porcelain.”

We wanted the guest bedroom to feel warm and inviting so we layered in lots of natural & textural elements like the wooden spindle bed (I COVET this bed) the chunky jute rug, the burlap side table and matchstick shades.  The room is small but instead of selecting a small bed, we opted for a larger four poster that really takes over the space and makes it all about getting into this big, cozy bed.  We pulled in a bit or turquoise to relate to the rest of the house, which is done in shades of blues, aqua and turquoise.   We hung two tiny antique silhouettes next to the modern gourd lamp for a bit of interest and juxtaposition of old & new.

Our client is from the West Coast and we hung a massive coastal painting across from the bed for a little nod to home.  This photo (below) really shows the John Robshaw print on the duvet cover:
