Instructions
Ingredients
6cupsflour (our go-to is einkorn)
2 tbspnsea salt
2-6tbspncoconut sugar OR honeydepending upon your desired level of sweetness… 2 tblspn for savory biscuits & 6 for barely sweet biscuits!
6tbspnflax seed (or mix of flax, hemp & chia seeds)
2tbspnbaking powder
2stickssoftened butter
2cups milkwe use whole milk
optional add-ons: vanilla for added sweetness, cinnamon, chocolate chips, additional sugar etc. or garlic powder & additional salt for savory biscuits
Instructions
Preheat over to 375 degrees
Mix dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl- flour, salt, sugar, flax sees, baking powder
Add in butter and milk, mixing gradually as they are added.
Mix thorougly
Knead 16 times
Roll out 1.5" thick and cut into biscuits. (We use a round cookie cutter but small bowls etc will do) Place on baking sheets.
Place baking sheets in freezer for 10-15 minutes to chill the dough (which will help the biscuits rise)
remove baking sheets form freezer and bake at 375 degrees for approximately 9 minutes. Remove when just turning golden brown yet still soft. (Better to take them out a little underdone as they continue to cook on the pan and you can always stick them back in the oven for a minute or two more!)
Serve hot or warm when possible with butter. (Apple & pear butter are favorite spreads of ours! for the daily biscuit!)
