I could not be more thrilled to tell you that we found a space for our design studio and shop!!  It’s on a beautiful little town green (below) in Great Falls, Virginia called the Great Falls Village Center and I’m crazy about it!!

It was modeled after a Northeastern town green and is just incredibly charming.  I honestly didn’t know anything like it existed in Northern Virginia.  The Village hosts events for the community all year long, including Summer Concerts on the Green, Trick-or-treating on Halloween and a tree lighting and visit from Santa Christmastime.  I’m thrilled to become a part of the fun and to have a space for people to come visit!!  We will have a showroom featuring our fabrics and the lines of furniture we carry, along with vintage and antiques, and one-of-a-kinds.  We’re creating walls in the space for an office area/conference room and design studio.  We’re in the blue building on the left side, first floor (next to an art studio and quilting studio!!) of the photo below:

We signed the lease on Friday and I’m still pinching myself.  Here’s the design studio/ shop from the parking lot:

{The Liess Boys hanging out front}

After we signed the lease, we had a team celebratory lunch at the Old Brogue (the yummy Irish Pub on the Green) and then raced like madwomen – while Dave picked up the boys from school- over to Kinko’s & Michael’s to get to work on making a “coming soon” sign and putting brown paper over the windows to hide everything while we’re getting set up…

{This was surreal}

Although it’s sealed up tight, I thought you might enjoy a peek of what’s inside… Below is the view of the Green from the front door to the parking lot.  We will have two public entrances, one on the parking lot side and one on the Green.

Here’s another shot…  I LOVE the beams!!!

I’m working on ordering our furnishings right away so that we can open up as quickly as possible!!  We will be handing out goodies on Halloween at the shop, working out of it in November, and are planning to have our grand opening in December. (NEVERr have I wanted furniture to be made as quickly as I do now… and trust me, I’ve quite possibly prayed for furniture to come more quickly in the past!! 😉

I’m still in a little bit of shock that we. have. a. store.  This is something I remember daydreaming about as a kid.  (Remember the shop in Practical Magic anyone???) I just can’t get over that it’s really happening.  I’m excited and anxious.  I want it to be amazing and I hope that people will feel inspired when they visit.  I know the feeling I have when I visit somewhere really special and I hope that our shop makes people feel that way too…  so there’s a LOT of pressure to make it great.

I’ll be sure to share peeks as we get moving and once it’s open, we’ll have a big open house and you’re invited!! Enjoy your day and I’ll be back soon with readers’ Fall photos!!
