meadow house update

It’s been one month since we moved back into the meadow and we’re getting SO. CLOSE. to finishing!!! The CarrMichael Construction team has made so much progress and they’ve finished with almost all of the cabinetry and built-ins in the house (which is saying a lot because we have LOTS o’ cabinets.) I took a few (very dark) progress photos last evening & wanted to share! Something about the pace and vibe of media these days has me missing the good ol’ blogging days of messy progress pics and behind-the-scenes so here we go.

The kitchen is coming together – all cabinetry is in- and we’re now waiting on lighting, plaster and tile. We christened the kitchen with a family dance party last night and it’s really starting to feel like home. The kitchen is functioning for us better than any other kitchen we’ve had and is a combination of our favorite elements from past kitchens. The kitchen was previously the dining room and kitchen but we we took a wall down now it’s one large space. We have a prep/pot wash sink near the range and a dishwashing sink flanked by two dishwashers (above) closer to the dining table side of the room. We’re waiting for our kitchen table to arrive and are currently eating at an old desk of ours so it’s a bit snug at the moment.

Our bathroom is pretty much finished with the exception of the antique bathtub which still needs to go in. Apparently antique tubs didn’t drain in the same way tubs do today so this process includes a welder and a plumber. 😉

Below is a photo of the living room with a cross cut-out (seen top left) from the upper hallway

The girls’ bedroom is close to being finished and here’s a peek. The first thing I bought for the house was a little MidCentury swedish chair in its original brown floral linen for the girls. They asked for “old-fashioned” and we found a rust-toned floral stripe that feels like days gone by.

We haven’t has very much time alone in the house yet because there are still construction teams almost every day and we’re organizing away, hanging art etc., but there have been a few occasions I’ve had a minute to sit in a room and take it in. It’s surreal to finally be at this point and I’m feeling incredibly grateful for all the work so many have poured into this place of ours.

Hope you’re having a good week and am sending you love!!
