daffodil season

Happy April! As the weather turns warmer, I’ve been loving seeing all of the daffodils out everywhere. We have so many on our property that I can pick armfuls!! (our double handfuls really.) That’s always been a dream of mine… to have so many flowers growing that you can pick and pick and not worry because there are so many more left. I’m planning to go crazy with bulbs this fall so we can have even more next year!!

My current obsession is with “poet’s daffodils” (the white ones with the tiny yellow/red center) and I must have picked 60 or so of them for the bridal shower we hosted for my little sister (who’s getting married to a wonderful guy we all adore in June!!!) this weekend. The poet’s daffodil was one of the very first daffodils to be cultivated and its name “Narcissus Poeticus” comes from the Greek legend of Narcissus. (history’s first pretty boy) 😉 Daffodils are one of the most cheerful flowers and when I see them popping up all over, I know green leaves, warm breezes, and true spring are all right around the corner!! I’ve been sleeping with daffodil arrangements next to my bed and I love smelling spring like that before bed and when I wake up.

I’m knee-deep in writing my 4th book, Beach Life, but had to pop in to share some photos I got of some of the daffodil arrangements we had around the house. Hope you have a beautiful early spring!! xo

Always a treat to see a new post from you. All daffodil varieties are so pretty and cheerful. Next, my favorites – tulips!

I love Old House Gardens and have bought from them many times. Another great source is White Flower Farms and their daffodil collection called “the works”. I buy at least 100 bulbs every year and add them to my garden. Mine have been blooming for weeks!

The flower pots are beautiful. It would be great if I could decorate my house with daffodils.
