A super sweet client of ours who lives in a beautiful Victorian townhouse in the city recently let me know that she and her family are moving out of the area (tear!) and I thought I’d share some of the photos she’d had taken by her good friend & photographer Katie Stoops along with some photos from the real estate listing. (It’s sold btw)
My client has an a-mazing eye (when I walked through the first time I wondered why she needed me she’s so talented!!) and the house has beautiful bones and gorgeous lighting procured by the couple who owned the home before my clients. The original architectural details throughout the house are incredible and we went for an eclectic-modern-Neoclassical vibe. The stair railing has so much character and is so substantial and I love the old wood floors:
They are an adorable family and truly couldn’t be kinder people…
When I visited the house for the first time, I loved so much about it and so many of the pieces my client had already found. Here’s a photo of the living room that day when they had just brought home a brand-new baby!!
This house is a really amazing example of how a few tweaks and new pieces here and there, can turn a room into something truly special.
Mixing modern into the classical architecture made it feel fun and fresh and young (like the sweet family who lives in it!) The chairs are from Collected by Jason Koharik.
The light throughout the house is so pretty…
The mouldings and original materials were begging for a bit of modern juxtaposition….
The library was almost there when I saw it for the first time and I suggested a new arrangement for the furniture (looooove the antique club chairs!!) along with adding in functional pieces like tables, rugs and lighting- not all shown from this angle. My clients’ mirror collection is pretty amazing.
The dining room was waiting for a bit of love but had beautiful antiques to get started with:
And here it is “after”
I was in love with the antique vases my client had found…
…and suggested they be turned into a lamps
White klismos chairs freshen up the antique and an amazing moody antique portrait my clients found adds interest and depth, contrasting with the feminine paper.
The kitchen was perfection from the moment I saw it. Our clients had renovated it when they moved in and I just love it!!!
The kitchen is open to the family room…
…and here’s what it looked like “before” when it was waiting to be decorated and functioning mainly as a room of requirement/ playroom type space…
We added a comfy sofa at the end of the room to anchor it and hung Lauren Liess Textiles “Gisele’s Web” in carbon.
I love seeing photos of our clients enjoying their finished homes!!! Nothing better than seeing it or hearing about it. It became the family room/ play area with a TV…
My clients are collectors and you know I love a good gallery wall full of moody landscapes so they got to work…
A palette of blue-grays, black, white, warm brown and hits of pale blue felt right with the gray kitchen cabinets and all the warm sunshine flooding in…
And here’s a close-up of Honey Badger… I can’t handle her!!!! 🙂
And finally, here is a peek at the perfect nursery which I had zero to do with but am in love with.
I’m so thankful to our clients for allowing us to share these photos and know how bittersweet it is for them to be moving right now. They’ve poured so much thought, love and care into their home and have made some major memories there. I’ve absolutely loved working with them, and for me, the silver lining is getting to work with them again to help turn their next place into another something truly special for them!!
And on a real estate/new project note, we’re in the process of renovating a one bedroom condo in North Arlington (see pic below) with our Property Collective Co-founders Maura and Daan DeRaedt and will be listing it for sale in July! We’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes snippets and photos on the @PropertyCollective Instagram account if you want to follow along! If you’re interested in details about the property click here. I’m really excited about it and already love what I’m seeing over there- it’s going to be perfect little sunlit apartment in the middle of everything!! I’m excited to give the place a bit of a modern, MidCentury-bent.
And, in case you missed my post last week, we have just opened up a new real estate brokerage and are in the process of hiring new agents so if you or anyone you know is interested, click here! We’d love to meet you!
Your Kansas City Garrison cousins who just moved to Albuquerque also have a stag in their new home. It’s above their fireplace; however, it’s a real one taken off the McMichael farms.
Lovely house. You will laugh when you hear I bought your book, Habitat, about six months ago and I move it from place to place in the house but I haven’t opened it yet. Been saving it for a rainy day when I need a delicious treat. It’s so much fun seeing it here and there – rather like Waldo of the decorating world. Maybe you should do that too – just sneak it in somewhere in the home you are featuring the day of the photo shoot so we can search for it!
beautiful home, thanks to you and your clients for sharing. Can you advise what wallpaper you used in the dining room. I think the idea Pursuit99 has of hiding your book is a great idea.
Thanks!! It’s brunschwig and fils ‘bird and thistle’ 🙂
xo
What an amazing house. You enhanced the beautiful bones of the Victorian.
Karen
I treasure the way the age and beauty of the house was respected. It’s beautiful and the aesthetic is updated but timeless. Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful home! Could you please share the wallpapering the nursery? Thank you!
